AETNA Reaches Agreement with Lehigh Valley Physician Hospital Organization (LVPHO)

Aetna has reached agreement with Lehigh Valley Physician Hospital Organization ("LVPHO") in Allentown, Pennsylvania. LVPHO represents Lehigh Valley Hospital, Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, Health Network Laboratories, Lehigh Valley Medical Group and over 400 other physicians throughout the Lehigh Valley. The effective date of the agreement is December 1, 2007.

Aetna has had formal and informal discussions with LVPHO many times over the past few years. Ultimately, both sides appreciated the value that LVPHO's participation in the Aetna network would bring to our constituents, and were able to agree to a contract structure that is mutually beneficial, and more important, promotes access to health care for the community.

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU AS AN EMPLOYEE

Improved Hospital Access - Lehigh Valley Hospitals are located in Allentown and Bethlehem, PA. These additions will increase member choice and improve hospital access in this service area. With this addition, Aetna now has 5 participating hospitals in the Lehigh Valley network out of 5 total hospitals in this area.

Lehigh Valley Hospital will be available via a full services contract. The hospital is located at 1200 South Cedar Crest Allentown, PA 18103, Lehigh County.

Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg will also be available via a full services contract. The hospital is located at 2545 Schoenersville Road Bethlehem, PA 18017 Northampton County.

Improved Physician Access - As a result of adding Lehigh Valley hospitals, approximately 300 physicians who are employed by Lehigh Valley Medical Group will join the network. Approximately 600 LVPHO physicians have the option of accepting this agreement as well. A listing of these new physicians will be available on the Network Services website after December 1, 2007.

Provider Directory Information - Current physician and hospital directories do not include Lehigh Valley Hospitals or physicians. The hospitals and physicians will be added to the next directory edition. Additionally, Lehigh Valley Hospitals and physicians will be added to DocFind upon the next scheduled DocFind update following the effective date of the addition.
