But Don't Worry!
In the next few days, you will receive, at your house, a notice from Cigna that next year they will be dropping their HMO and POS plans from New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware. We wanted to let you know that this does not mean that next year you will not get a plan that looks like a HMO or POS plan from Cigna. So don’t worry. Also, CIGNA has a plan called Open Access Plus which is a POS plan but is NOT AFFECTED by this change.
For various corporate and regulatory reasons Cigna will no longer offer the plans under their HMO license which will not necessarily affect you as an individual…just the way they do business with the employers. We expect you will be able to get the same type of offerings you currently have next year, perhaps under a different product name.
In any event, we will, as always, be reviewing before open enrollment every alternative out there for you. We are aware that your health insurance is an important benefit to you and your family and that the cost of this is meaningful.
We will continue to make sure that we explore every possibility to control your costs and protect your family.
We do know that often the mail at home gets opened by your spouse or another family member. Please pass this information on to your spouse or other family members so they are aware of this before they get the letter from Cigna. Without a heads up the letter is pretty scary.
If you do have some questions, you can call the people you normally call at your company with your benefit-related questions.
