Guardian to Offer the #1 Requested Service - Cosmetic Teeth Whitening

Guardian now covers cosmetic teeth whitening. In addition to the new teeth-whitening feature (citing the connection between oral health and overall health) Guardian is enhancing its preventive care with increased gum cleanings by expanding the number of periodontal cleanings in its dental plan.

The cosmetic teeth whitening and enhanced gum cleanings complement existing Guardian Group Dental programs including discounts on Xylitol products, coverage for dental implants, adult fluoride treatments and ViziLite^®; Plus oral cancer screenings and a dental account rollover program that allows members to save up their annual maximums for costly procedures as part of its standard coverage. At this time the insured cosmetic benefit is approved in the following states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DC, DE, GA, HI, IA, IL, KS, MA, MI, NE, NJ and RI.

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU AS AN EMPLOYEE
Guardian's new plan provides you with the option of multiple periodontal maintenance cleanings per year, regardless of medical conditions. Traditionally, a physician's certification that the employee has a disease with a known correlation to periodontal disease is required to qualify for more than 2 to 3 cleanings in a year. The majority of dental insurance companies usually do not cover cosmetic procedures, but your demand supported Guardian's decision to offer teeth whitening as a covered benefit.

This new dental benefit provides you with additional value and reason to take advantage of your dental plan coverage. By offering cosmetic teeth whitening, we encourage you to visit your dentists and seek not only the treatments that will improve the look of their smile, but also their oral health and overall health.
