United Healthcare Half Tablet Consumer Campaign

UnitedHealth Pharmaceutical Solutions (UHPS) recently launched our 2007 Half Tablet program consumer campaign. UnitedHealthcare members, with recent claims (retail or mail) for medications that are suitable for the pill splitting program, will receive a program description through the mail asking them to talk to their physicians about pill splitting, and to call toll-free to learn more about the program and receive a free pill splitter. The communication includes customized member information regarding their specific prescription drug, copayment information and cost-savings opportunities. A follow-up automated call will be made to members who have not called within a designated period of time. After 30 to 90 days of the initial mailing, a second mailing will be sent to members who have still not responded to the follow-up telephone call.

PROGRAM UPDATE
Effective immediately, Valtrex®, an antiviral, will no longer be promoted as an eligible medication in our Half Tablet program. At this point, there is no disruption for members currently splitting the medication.
